Additional information on DIN EN 10204

  • DIN EN 10204 was introduced in 2005 and replaced the 1995 version (formerly DIN 50049 1992-04, document withdrawn)
  • DIN EN 10204 regulates the different types of test certificates
  • The test certificate governs the conformity with the agreements and order specifications for orders of all metallic products such as sheet metal, fine sheets, strips, rods, forged pieces, castings, seamless and welded pipes, fittings and flanges, irrespective of the production method used
  • It is a detailed standardised delivery note with information on the production method and process as well as the measured values to be tested
  • The most notable difference is that the designation 3.1A, 3.1B, 3.1C has been replaced by 3.1 and 3.2
  • Distributors are not allowed to issue or rewrite material certificates according to DIN/EN 10204
  • DIN EN 10204 does NOT regulate which tests are obligatory on the IC (Inspection Certificate); this item is regulated by the product standards of the corresponding product (e.g. DIN EN 10088-3, EN ISO 4957, etc.)
  • Generally, only a few mandatory test criteria are required; e.g. ultrasonic/crack testing, etc., the first customer must order in the plant
  • The presentation of the Inspection Certificate is fundamentally regulated, and DIN EN 10168 is used for this purpose; nevertheless every IC looks different…
